Falsely accused of witchcraft at the age of 23 during the Salem Witch trials, Lela quickly caught the eye of a drifting vampire who took mercy on her. Visiting her in her cell, he found her in a painful state of torture and turned her. When she was hung the next day, she faked death to escape later that night with her maker, adopting the alias 'Lela' which she still answers to, to this day.
Her maker was an old vampire with strong AVL ties who met the True Death somewhere around the turn of the century. Lela has taken his place since then, working her way up the ranks.
Lela is loyal to the AVL above all now that her maker is dead, and likes to keep mortals as pets. After decades of practice she is skilled in glamoring and hiding evidence. Since the Great Revelation she has openly declared her status as a vampire and is often the face for the AVL when they need someone who appears innocent and human.
